LSF would like to congratulate Jaliya Ekanayake on completing his Ph.D.in Computer Science from Indiana University. His research focus was on MapReduce and cloud technologies such Hadoop, Dryad and DryadLINQ. Specifically, trying to identify extensions to the MapReduce programming model so that it can be applied to more classes of applications. Jaliya has developed Twister (Iterative MapReduce Runtime) a streaming based MapReduce runtime that supports iterative MapReduce computations efficiently.

He was a student of Prof. Geoffrey Fox and has already started working at Microsoft Research Labs. Jaliya is the second fellow from the original Apache Axis2 team to complete his Ph.D. after Srinath.
